Anonymous, French, 13th century, O Maria. This is a setting of a medieval Latin poem in praise of the Virgin Mary, with each verse set to the same melody. While nearly every phrase ends with the same four-note descending scale passage, variety is achieved by making each phrase of a different, unpredictable length. Recorded in 2011.
